WELCOME TO CALM MY MIND

Contributor & Story Submission Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2025

At Calm My Mind, we believe stories heal. Sharing personal experiences with mental health, healing, and growth helps others feel less alone and builds understanding.

We welcome submissions from readers who wish to contribute essays, reflections, or expert insights that align with our mission: to make mental health accessible, honest, and stigma-free. This policy explains how we handle submissions, what we accept, and how contributors’ rights are protected.

1. Who Can Contribute

We accept submissions from:

  • Writers, creatives, and wellness professionals
  • Individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Readers who want to share what has helped them heal or understand themselves

You don’t need to be a professional writer — only to speak truthfully and respectfully.

2. What We Publish

We’re interested in original, unpublished work that explores:

  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Recovery, resilience, and personal growth
  • Motherhood, identity, purpose, or trauma
  • Tools, therapies, and practices that have genuinely helped you
  • Research-backed insights or expert advice in psychology or wellness

We prioritise authenticity, emotional safety, and substance over perfection.

3. How to Submit

Send your submission to hello@calmmymind.com with:

  • Your story or article (ideally 800–1,200 words)
  • A short bio (2–3 sentences)
  • Whether you’d like your full name, first name, or a pseudonym used

Please include “Story Submission” or “Contributor Pitch” in your subject line.

4. Editing and Review

All submissions are reviewed by our editorial team. We may edit for length, clarity, grammar, or tone while maintaining your message and authenticity. If significant edits are required, we’ll contact you before publication. We reserve the right not to publish any submission that:

  • Contains inaccurate or unsafe health information
  • Includes hate speech, discrimination, or self-harm promotion
  • Violates privacy or copyright
  • Conflicts with Calm My Mind’s values or editorial standards

Publication is at the sole discretion of Calm My Mind’s editorial team.

5. Copyright and Permissions

By submitting content, you confirm that:

  • The work is your own and does not infringe on any third-party rights
  • You grant Calm My Mind a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, promote, edit, and distribute your content in any format (including social media, newsletters, and future collections), with appropriate attribution
  • You retain full ownership of your work and may republish it elsewhere after 30 days of initial publication

We will never sell your work or use it in a way that misrepresents your intent.

6. Sensitive Topics

We treat personal stories involving trauma, grief, or mental illness with care. If your submission discusses suicide, abuse, or other high-risk subjects, our team may suggest edits or include helpline information for reader safety. We avoid publishing detailed descriptions of self-harm or content that could be triggering.

7. Payment

At this stage, Calm My Mind does not pay for reader-submitted stories. If your piece is selected for paid commissions or partnerships in the future, we will contact you directly with terms and compensation.

8. Withdrawal and Updates

You may request to withdraw or update your story at any time by contacting hello@calmmymind.com. We reserve the right to keep previously published versions archived for transparency, but we will remove identifying information upon request.

9. Final Approval

By submitting your work, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this policy and that you grant Calm My Mind permission to publish your submission in line with the terms above.
